Once a Month Cooking at Home

We had so much fun going to Let’s Dish to make some meals before the holidays last year. It was more expensive than what we spent with regular grocery shopping and cooking, but the coupons and specials made it an okay buy and we planned to do it again this year because it was really easy to make meals when we were busy. So, boy, was I sad when the location near us closed. My sister and I were talking the other day and decided we were going to do our own version of Let’s Dish at home.

Preparing a lot of meals at once is a really popular trend called once a month cooking or freezer cooking. A lot of people do once a month cooking at home instead of going to a store to do it. In fact, Money Saving Mom, who has one of my favorite frugal blogs, and a group of other moms just had a freezer cooking meetup on Facebook.Virtual once a month cooking groups sound like a terrific way to keep you going when you don’t have a friend or family member you can meet up with to prep your meals all day.
Anyway, I found a few books at the library to look through so I can set up a menu, but what I really want is something like the Let’s Dish Firecracker Chicken recipe, which was our favorite. So, I’m still looking. (If your library doesn’t have a good selection available, ask about interlibrary loan or try Amazon’s list of once a month cooking recipe books. A lot of the titles have used copies available for a very low price.)
